NEW CAR
Fayetteville, GA's Brit Floyd also had his brand-new Pro 5.0 2003 Mustang out for testing at Reynolds. Cajun Pro Cars, owned by Floyd and partner Chip Chachere, built the Pro Mod-style chassis, with help from David Reese. Floyd said he's running a 412 c.i. engine with a single turbo and Liberty four-speed tranny backing it up, and so far the car's best performance is a 4.45 in the eighth-mile at 162 mph.

OTHER WINNERS

B.K. Meyers (near lane) survived a 15-car field to win the EFI Renegade title at Reynolds. His opponent in the final round, Bob Kurgan (far lane), also finished runner-up at the NMRA season opener in Bradenton, FL. Meyers ran 9.243/148.07 to beat Kurgan's 9.255/147.86.

After qualifying number two, Randy Morrison (shown) eventually faced off against number-one qualifier Mark Morales in the Truck & Lightning final. Morales redlighted, however, while Morrison ran 11.15 on an 11.07 dial in.

Chris "Showtime" Little, last year's Drag Radial champion, backed up his season-opening win in Florida with another in Georgia. Little overcame a .022 holeshot by Matt Cutler in the final round and posted a winning 9.09-secs pass at 145.80 mph. Also winning at Reynolds were Mike Washington in Factory Stock; Darin Hendricks in Pure Street; Chris Tuton in Real Street; Ken Compton in Hot Street; Greg Cole in Open Comp; and Gary Youngblood in Modular Muscle.

A little battered perhaps, but Roy Gavlik of Shadyside, OH, entered his 1995 T-Bird in the Centerforce Burnout Competition and walked away with the $200 top prize. At least that'll pay for the right rear tire he exploded after about 30 seconds of abuse.

AND FINALLY ...
Greg Owens (top right) paid a little extra to enter his truck in the event's car show, just to secure a spot beside the staging lanes that offered a great starting-line vantage point. That's DRO's kind of thinking!
