A/FUEL AND THE REST OF COMPETITION
The very competitive A/Fuel class was just
outstanding. Dr. Kin Bates in the Bates/Adams/Russell
injected nitro set the pace in qualifying
at a fine 6.504, while their was a number
of great competitors. But in the final round
of eliminations, Bates ran into that old chassis
builder, Ron Attebury, from Campbell, CA who
wasn't the quickest or fastest but took home
the money and the trophy at a 6.795, 179.423
mph when something when away in the Gene Adams-built
and tuned injected Hemi.

JR Fuel was once again split into two classes,
with Wayne Ramay turning the stellar performance
over Steve Parks from Kansas, at a fine 7.155,
