FUEL CAR PERFORMANCE
To limit the performance of the fuel cars
simply put a limit on the size and type of
the supercharger. Pick a size, say 10-71,
and put restrictions on case size, rotor angle,
etc. Make the rotors have a minimum clearance
with no strips allowed on the rotors. To complete
the limitations, do away with clutch management
and fuel timers. With the availability of
today's parts this should reduce carnage,
slow the cars down and allow for a lot more
competitors.
Mike Dunn looks like the logical choice for
Force.

SO LONG, SHIRLEY
On Sunday November the 9th in Pomona CA.
at the NHRA AAA Auto Club Nationals during
the second round of Top Fuel eliminations
against Cory McClenathan Shirley Muldowney
took her "Last Pass" down the quarter mile
when Cory beat her. A 4.55- 4.70. I was at

and all I could do was turn my back and let
the tears roll down my face. I have watched
Shirley race for 30 years. I saw her take
one of her first passes in 1972 in Columbus,
OH at the Spring Nationals and I was not about
to miss the "Last Pass!" Monday evening at
the NHRA POWERade Awards Ceremony Shirley
geve a very long and emotional farewell speech.
She thanked everyone who had helped her during
her AWESOME racing career.
After the ceremony I stopped Shirley in the
theatre and told her that I had flown all
the way from Ohio just to see the "Last Pass!"
Shriley was actually humble and thanked me.
Even when I was standing there telling her
my story I had tears in my eyes, I hugged
her goodbye two times, and also thanked her
husband Rahn Tobler for all he had done for
Shirley.
Shirley Muldowney may not have always had
the fastest hot rod in the track. But, when
she pulled up to the line to race the other
opponent better had their stuff together.
The one thing I will always remember about
Shirley was, You better never underestimate
her! Just when you think you had her beat,
she beat you. Just ask Paul Romine.
Enjoy your retirement, Shirley, you deserve
it.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES
I just (Suzy's) article about Ezra Boggs.
I met him in the late 70's & early 80's when
I purchased a trailer from him and mounted
and tinned a new Corvette body on his chassis.
I thank you for bringing back old memories.
Does he still have his place in Oklahoma?
Kind of a farm as I recall.
Memories shot, but still driving at 60!
