COULD BE

A couple of years ago I emailed NHRA trying to get this information. They stone-walled me, asking why I wanted this information and what I was going to do with it. At the time I was trying to help a Pro Stock racer get some help with sponsors. The way they run things, it is not

hard to figure why they were reluctant to release anything. The way they manage to cover John Force (Castrol), Kenny Bernstein (Budweiser) and a few other fuel cars, it left almost no exposure for the most competitive class in NHRA----Pro Stock. The core racers would rather watch this class than the fuel classes. I would think that there is some collusion between the big salaried boys and those sponsors. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

TRICKLE DOWN

I think that they are all over paid by far. Tom Compton makes more than the president of the U.S.A. and that just ain't right. No wonder NHRA products cost so much. I think more of the money should go to the racers for all the money that they spend to keep their cars going. And I am talking about the sportsman racers with little sponsorship. I mean the racers are the show. Right?

A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION

Just read your piece about the tax returns for NHRA. In the paragraph listing the outstanding debt, RADCO is National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio. RADCO is the Rader family which owned the track prior to the NHRA purchase.

Keep up the great work, I check the site regularly to see what is really going on in Drag Racing. Getting tired of the sanctioning bodies politically correct B.S.

THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG?

Half as million a year? Remember that's just a salary, that does not include country club dues and a maxed our Visa. Where does "for the love the sport" come into play? No racers left at NHRA, it's all about the cash. Bader, I've known for a long time, straight shooter, have always like him and his candor and fearless decision making.

I agree with you on all points. . .great insight.

NOT SURPRISING

I'm slightly shocked at those salaries, but nothing the NHRA does should really shock any more since the Pro Truck lawsuit and some of their history in the past.
