IS THIS AN ELECTION YEAR?

Just read (Chris Martin's) latest column. And I liked it except for the political comments attacking Republicans. In a funny twist, your hero and mine, Big Daddy, is a Republican who ran for office in Florida. Also, your other Hero by association, Al Gore, Democrat, wrote a book condemning the internal combustion engine as the cause of malaise, pollution and the worst thing that could've been developed in the 20th century. Republicans support freedom, including drag racing. Democrats hate big oil, racing and love political correctness and want to do our thinking for us.

Stick with the racing stuff, you are very good. I enjoy your fondness of racing in the old days. I had a G/G Ford, ran in the 15's. That was fun. I love front engined fuelers, A/A, _/FX'ers, and the rest as you do!

WHERE'S THE COMMON SENSE?

Mr. Burk, let me first say I am a big fan of your articles. I normally read stuff online, but don't really write responses. After reading your latest Burk's Blast, I have to say it is one of the best you have written. You have said so many things that a lot of people have to agree

with. Many things that go on or (don't go on) are just basic common sense items that you think NHRA, or any other drag racing fan should have thought about.

To this very day, I can not understand why NHRA has to get a cut of the racer's T-shirt sales. They do not deserve the 20%, maybe 5% or something like that. Some teams need these shirt sales to keep going or at least to help out. It's just so different to go to an IHRA event, and all the guys have their shirts at their own trailers with their own salesperson if you will.

Also I really sympathize at the way NHRA cut Pro Stock Truck--I actually liked them. However, I don't blame NHRA for dropping them--just the timing is what sucks. I am just concern this lawsuit will have some real damaging effects on our sport.

Well this is my "venting session" for the day--lol.

Keep up the good work. I look forward to reading your columns as much as I do the Agent 1320.

By the way, if I remember correctly--you said the NHRA/AMS telecast would be awesome. You were right!!! I went into the show thinking this would be like any other race seen on TV---good but that's it. I was wrong. The drama and the format of that show was great. I mention to Kenny--it would be tough to top that one--hehe.
