A DIFFERENT VIEWPOINT

I couldn't agree with Mr. Hanna more. More and more I get discouraged going to a national event or bracket race. When myself as a participant see a guy that in 5 or 6 rounds go .00 on the tree and run dead on with a whatever, how can people not look at these guys and think that they aren't cheating!? There needs to be tech and tear down at the finish line when this guy does this. There are just too many variables in the operation of a car to think that these are such SUPER cars or DRIVERS.

One race I recently attended this particular person never missed the tree or his dial all day. I think that electronics has a lot to do with this but they will never outlaw them because they spend too much $$ advertising in all the big publications.

The only real way to cure the question is that after you win you must submit to a complete tear down or no points or money will be awarded. I mean I spend the same money to get in the gate as everyone else so I should have the same chances to win without the cards stacked in the other guy's favor.

And as Mr. Hanna also stated there seems to be a lot of incentive for these guys to not play FAIRLY when they do have the big note to make every month and payments on whatever else they have. I remember several years a racer was on the starting line against the converter and somebody took a picture and his car left before the tree was activated but he wasn't cheating -- YEAH RIGHT!

LIKES WHAT HE SEES

Re: View from the Left Coast
Darr, I think all of the ideas would work wonders! All of them, great! But...all these ideas go 180 degrees against the current shirts' agendas, MAKE MONEY!

Punt the current suits out and hire someone who's actually been to a drag race in their life because they liked drag racing and not because it brought them a cheque, and things will turn around. Excellent ideas though!

I click on the DRO icon and up pops a Stocker and news of Jegs Allstars. A STOCKER!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You made my day, a Stocker as a cover...man what's next, respect and a payout increase by the associations? Lol!!

Thanks again,

ANOTHER 'GOOD OLD' RACE

Jeff, you missed one: the August giant in the west at Firebird Raceway, Boise, Idaho. Four days of big bucks bracket racing mixed in with a ton of nitro cars: fuel funny cars, nostalgia top fuel cars and now even the nostalgia funny cars. Pro Mods, jets, and wheelstanders included bring solid action for the whole weekend! One of the best independent drag races anywhere. Every year in August. The New family presents a huge asset to the sport!

INCREASING NHRA SPECTATORS

I couldn't agree more. Another thought is for the NHRA to advertise! Put ads in local papers. Advertise on local radio stations and give away tickets as a promotion. One of the problems we have now is that you have to already be a fan to know what's going on. How is that going to get new folks into the sport and make it grow?
