YOU'RE NOT ALONE
As a fan of NHRA for many years I have to say I am very
disappointed with their decisions about Pro Mod. Those cars
put on a really wild show and are very unpredictable, which
is much different than the smoke or fly of Top Fuel dragsters
and Funny Car or the boredom tight ladder of Pro Stock!
Don't get me wrong, I love championship racing, but it's
refreshing to have an exciting class like Pro Mod!

TRUE CONVERT
I hated Pro Mod for bumping the Pro Stock Trucks out of
the NHRA line up but have become more of a Pro Mod fan as
the class has become more competitive with more than one
or two cars running well at each event. Too bad they're
gone.

PRO MOD = LATE MODEL ALKY FUNNY
CAR?
Of course the IHRA embraces the Pro Mod cars, they do not
have fuel floppers for the fans. Top Fuel to alky floppers
leaves quite a gap. Pro Mod brought some excitement for
those who want to see fast cars that aren't long and skinny
(and let's face it, alky floppers bore fans to death). Pro
Stock is the NHRA's premier door car class, and the Pro
Mod guys who jumped on the late model body bandwagon have
only themselves to blame. As the Pro Mods become nothing
more than left hand drive late model alky funny cars, more
and more of their fans (like myself) will also abandon them.
The sanctioning bodies will not want them if the fans don't
want to watch them.

LONG LIVE THE KING?
It has been a while since I have been so inclined to send
a e-mail BUT...
As we look through out history there have always been king(NHRA)doms
that have rose and king(IHRA)doms that have, shall we say,
not been as fortunate. Having been a history watcher now
for 56 years and a watcher of king(NHRA/IHRA)doms for 42
of those history lessons, I believe I am seeing a trend.
While one king(NHRA)dom seems to be going down hill in
fan appeal -- Ho
Hum another race, same cars same stars, no Pro Mods -- the
other king(IHRA)dom is now offering the fans more bang for
the old Benjamin's. This king(IHRA)dom will have Pro Mod,
Fuel Funny Car and now possible Top Fuel Harley and basically
all of the classes the other king(NHRA)dom has. As the excitement
ebbs over at one king(NHRA)dom, the other king(IHRA)dom
continues to rise.
Ahh... Funny how history repeats itself!
Sincerely
Michael Kohn
KEEPING US STRAIGHT
In your article regarding Daryl Jensen leaving A/Fuel class
you mention him as a driver. In fact, his car was driven
by Steve San Paolo and a few other drivers over the last
5 years. Also, he's been running an earlier Alan Johnson
big block combination, not a small block.
Not trying to give you a bad time, just trying to pass
on some information. Hell, I enjoy your articles and read
them all the time.
