IF I WERE KING. . .

I for one liked the Pro Mod class. It is more exciting than Pro Stock! To me the NHRA is starting to become NASCAR. If you are not within their circle, you are not cool. Personally, maybe Bruton Smith buying the NHRA will change things. Me, I would throw Graham Light out on his ass. He has made some idiotic statements over the last few years. Let's face it Pro Mod was not successful because they did not want to help. After all it is still DRAG RACING! BTW I have been a gearhead since birth. I eat and sleep drag racing. If I could run the NHRA for just two weeks. That is all I have to say.

BACK TO BASICS

Again the NHRA isn't listening! The sport as we know it is dead at NHRA. If it doesn't fit into their narrow way of thinking it's no good, and screw the fan and competitors if they don't like it. I waited to see NHRA adopt this class, instead we got short-changed on a class that was alive and diverse and has plenty of potential as sponsor dollars goes. I say screw the NHRA and get back to drag racing as it was intended: 2 guys with hot rods trying to see which one is the fastest and baddest ride!!!

5-DAY CONFUSION?

Hey Jok, I don't understand why the low ET numbers are always screwed up from the 5-day, but showing a 7.406 from David
ADVERTISEMENT
Brodsky for low ET on day 3 with a 193.09 mph from Mike Manners should have thrown up a red flag. I drove Jeff Palmers' car on day 2 because the home built junk I call a Destroyer had 3 severe frame cracks. Mike Manners was low ET and top speed that day with his blown big block Chevy dragster. After a 15-hour thrash from Alan and Glenda Billings, Tom Dauber, Jamie and Lynda Bridge, John Calerco Sr. and John Calarco Jr., and some great welding and fabrication from John DiBartolomeo, our team collected the other low et awards with a 6.806 on day 1, 6.901 on day 3, and a 6.869 on day 4.

I don't know if this is worth correcting, but I would be glad to keep the numbers straight next year at the 25th 5-day. If my records are correct George Rupert, Ron Folk, Randy Folk, Wally Higby, David Rampy, Dave Shapiro, Ed Bousman, Jim Carlton, Tim Butler, Larry Ericksmoun, Peanut Dixon, Gary Unger, and myself are what is left of the all timers.

Even though many feel this 5-day was the most troubled of all, I don't think I ever had more fun at a drag race. Keep up the great writing and I hope you make it down next year!!!

Sincerely,
Danny Bastianelli
