REMEMBERING EVANS

Thanks for the terrific remembrance of Steve Evans.

I still think of John Force’s tribute after the memorial in Pomona. Nitro funny cars running in drag racing’s version of the missing man formation. The nitro could not compete with the tears already flowing that day.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! Indeed.

EVANS WAS THE BEST

I, too, miss Steve Evans; yes, he was drag racing at its finest. People don't realize that EVERYONE can drag race, but not everyone can do NASCAR, WORLD OF OUTLAWS, or race boats, etc. We say it only takes me 9 seconds to make a decision, not 2 to 4 hours as in NASCAR and you still end up at the same line.

Thanks for the article. It hurts to open up old history, but he did make a lot of people smile and that's what it's all about.

CD AVAILABLE?

Thanks for the great article of Steve Evans. I remember hearing his voice as a kid and I'm now 55. He has and will continue to be missed by all old hot rodders.

About the CD. Where could a man find a copy of that?

ED. NOTE: A quick search of Google shows that the CD is available at www.hotrodder.com/betherecd.html

WE'D LIKE TO KNOW TOO

Martin’s taking a little time off? From what?

JUST DIGGING THE ATMOSPHERE

One of the BEST things I enjoy greatly when I go to the drags is walking around the pits at night. It is a whole new atmosphere and relaxing to see the racers and crews working on the cars. No fear of missing a race, just enjoy the evening, cars, colours and sounds.

UPS OR IS THAT OOPS

Your info on there possibly being a U.P.S. Union strike has no merit at all. We are under contract through 2007 and anything holding up Mr. Vandergriff's possible sponsorship by UPS has nothing to do with the very hard working union members employed by UPS! I suggest you get the facts before you send out an alarm to all of our customers that we may go on strike. What are you, a closet FedEx driver? Otherwise I enjoy your work, just get the facts please.

Later,

Rod Horn
UPS driver
