NHRA LOSING HIS SUPPORT
I have been a loyal supporter and member of NHRA for the
last 25 years. Just finished reading your "Christmas
surprise" article. I am shocked and mortified! As far
as I'm concerned this is just another nail in the NHRA coffin
lid! Every year it's something else with this organization.
What started out as racers for racers, is now another step
closer to a WWF on wheels. Gone are the days when you could
sit in the stands with real car guys. Now it's just a bunch
of John Force fans. Don't get me wrong, I love what John
has done for the sport, but I believe NHRA is headed in
the wrong direction. I don't think I can stomach these NHRA
antics much longer. This may be my last year as a member,
and that my friend is a shame!
Sincerely,

P.S. DRO is great! Keep up the good work.
If Dave drops his NHRA membership, he won't be alone.
According to the Publisher's statement, National Dragster
subscriptions (included with every NHRA membership) have
been declining since 1996, dropping by over 13,000 to around
66,500 in 2004. -- Ed.
SCRUBBING BUBBLES?
How about spending some of that money on upgrading the restrooms!
My wife refuses to go to the track with me because she is
horrified by the condition of the FACILITIES!

NO SURPRISE
Jeff, you seemed surprised by the latest business decision
by the folks in Glendora. I suppose if they can't fill the
grandstands, why not more luxury boxes?! Frankly, I would
be embarrassed to show attendance on the TV programs given
what NASCAR has accomplished with their deal. You and I
can remember when the US Nationals was the hottest ticket
of the year...and look at it now.
As I've stated in the past, I'll not give those folks another
dollar to attend an event. If it wasn't such a big deal
on the value of our chassis, I'd not ever again give them
money to put that red tag on it every year!
Let them build their castles in the air. . .they're welcome
to them. Do you remember when Wally sent Larry Carrier the
Christmas card with a picture of the Bristol tower on it?
He told Larry that the tower would be a monument to his
failure. How soon we forget. . . .

WE ARE BLESSED WITH LOYAL READERS
Just wanted to drop you a quick note to wish you and all
of the staff at DRO a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Racing Year. I really enjoy the online mag and read it every
day.
If you are around an NHRA or IHRA Division 2 race look
for the idiot in Super Street/Hot Rod with the small block,
four speed Maverick doing Super Stock wheelies and running
the number without any electronic driving aids -- that would
be me.
Take care and God bless!
