WE LIKE THIS IDEA
I think it would be really interesting if any of your readers
who now own a car that they're currently racing that at
one time was running in one of the three main Pro classes
would submit a pic of their car now and match it up with
a pic of the car then. For instance, say someone had a 1970's
style Pro Stock and currently run that car as a bracket
car, it would be nice to see it.

Okay, Karl, we'll give it a try. If anybody is running
a car that used to compete in a professional class, send
us your name, a current photo and a description of where
you're racing to oldcars@dragracingonline.com.
If we get a handful, we'll make something out of it.

GEE, CARL, WE HADN'T NOTICED. . .
I don't know if you are aware of the fact or not, that
on a constant basis ESPN2 is pre-empting the NHRA broadcast
with some stick and ball crap or a poker or scrabble game
or billiards. I and a lot of hardcore Drag Racing fans are
fed up with ESPN's nonsense. Could we please have a write
up on this and maybe we can get ESPN to change their attitude.
I have e-mailed ESPN a number of times but never received
any replies. I have even called them only to be told that
ESPN is under contract to the leagues. I say Bullshit.

If ESPN, the world-wide loser in motorsports, cannot keep
their advertised times, then maybe they should move the
telecast to another time slot that they can keep. Also on
occasion ESPN has also cut off the Drags for the same stick
and ball nonsense.
I have even e-mailed the NHRA repeatedly about this, but
they seem to think that ESPN is more than fair and that
there are times that the Drags will be pre-empted. I might
agree with the NHRA if this only happened once or twice
a year, but it happens nine to ten times a year, and a lot
of times it is both quailifying and final eliminations that
gets the boot by the losers.
Maybe, the NHRA and PowerAde should move the series to
the Speed Channel and tell ESPN to go s***w themselves.
Thanks for your time.

If drag racing drew bigger numbers, ESPN2 would not
be so quick to pre-empt. If drag racing weren't pre-empted
so often and people could watch the entire coverage at a
reasonable hour, perhaps the ratings would be better. Catch-22,
anyone?
YOU'RE WELCOME
Thanks for the nice mention of the Minor & Beck '83
car on Drag Racing Online. It has been a long path to get
it restored, but accolades such as this make the long hot
days and cold nights in the garage all worthwhile. This
project was a labor of love, but had I known that it would
receive the attention that it has, I might have made its
debut a bit more public.
Again, my thanks.
