WHAT ELSE THE FANS REALLY WANT

Jeff, your article "race on Sunday, sell on Monday" was outstanding. I used to go (I went last year to the Fun Ford Weekend) to the Cordova drag strip in the '60s and I got to witness Arnie "the Farmer" Beswick go toe-to-toe with the Chevys, Mopars, and my beloved Fords in match races it seemed like every Sunday. God, did they stir up the stuff with the fans. Arnie was a beast. I hated him and his Pontiac in an adoring sort of way.

My 2000 Mustang GT with a Bassani exhaust system has a beautiful exhaust note just as the 327 Chevys did back then. I wanted the Chevys to get beat, but I sure did love their sound. Almost wanted to make me go out and buy a Chevy, which I think is your point. Yes, racing regular cars would sell them on Monday.

Thanks.

DETROIT MEMORIES

Chris Martin: I remember the Orange Baron well. He came to Detroit Dragway with a Chevy Monza and they said he was going to beat the Snake's track record. He made a solo pass and got loose and went through the grass a little bit. The crowd went crazy. I can't tell you how much I miss those drag racing days at Detroit Dragway.

I've enclosed a few pics from Detroit back in the day.

P.S. Your site is by far the best on the web!!!!

EVERYBODY WAS AT THE CELINE DION SHOW?

Just wondering if you had an explanation as to why there was so few spectators at the Vegas race on Sunday. I have been attending since the inaugural race, and it seemed to me that Sunday was the least attended of all the races.
