GET IT IN WRITING
Join the club, Burkster! I suppose the only way to guarantee
a "pro" will attend a race is to have a formal
contract stating the same and certain monies changing hands.
From the pics I saw from Huntsville, I had this terrible
feeling that George was in for a "bath" on this
deal! For whatever reason, IF an event doesn't have the
blessing of what was once Wally's deal, and the National
Dragster rag coverage of same, no one wants to dance. And
trust me when I say that what used to be a good publication
has degenerated into a real substandard magazine. More cost
cutting, I presume?
In my opinion, you're much
more than kind with your remarks about people that make
commitments and then simply blow them off. I understand
why you can't and won't call it what it is -- unprofessional,
unethical, and pretty damned uncool! Jeff, it's not the
purse money for the high rollers, it's the $$$$$ they get
from their coverage they would get for 3 laps in Alabama,
and the $101K for the win, didn't outweigh the coverage,
they simply chose to can their verbal commitment to support
a promoter that tried to make history.
Personally, I could care less if I ever attend another
"national" event. Anyone that bumps Pro Mod for
fireworks isn't interested in racing in the first place.
And Schumacher doesn't need me or my money either. . .they
can kiss my (insert your own noun)!
Please keep up your quest as best you can, my friend! But
remember that the old days are most likely gone.

FORGET TOP FUEL; HOW ABOUT SUPER
STOCK?
Jeff, AMEN!!!!!! The so called "PRO TEAMS" that
backed out on you and George Howard ought to be ashamed
of themselves. Maybe next year George should put up that
100 Grand for a SS/AA HEMI SHOOTOUT. . .bet you'll be turning
cars away at the gate. The Pros need to check their egos
at the door and take part in events like the Huntsville
race, or keep their pieholes shut when it comes to promoters
not doing enough.

SPREAD THE WORD
Well Jeff, I'm sorry to hear that Rocket City didn't go
as planned. I can't say I'm that surprised that the prima
donnas who didn't even have to pay entry didn't show up.
They are so used to people falling all over themselves just
to get them somewhere, they've forgotten the love for the
sport, and now only think in "I" statements. Perhaps
somebody should tell them to get over themselves...oh wait,
that would have to be the NHRA...and they are into themselves
ALSO!
So, what is the solution? Perhaps start making it very
well known in the journalistic world that everybody is getting
sick and tired of their antics?
Just a thought.

THEY'RE SOMETHING ALRIGHT
You nailed it, Burk! Whine, bitch about $$'s. . .and not
be a part of the Huntsville event? Many racers are something,
eh?
Thanks George. . .nice job! Thanks DRO. . .great coverage.
