IT'S STILL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS

Crew chiefs and owners of the super teams have no desire to slow down. It only took a couple of weeks to figure out the 85% rule. NHRA is all about the almighty dollar.

Try being the little guy trying just to qualify and you will find 1st we don't have a shot at it in the first place as they are certification crazy on items that do NOT need to be replaced because its out of date. Second is the fact that weekend racers are the true backbone of the sport and NHRA keeps cutting out races we can participate in.

FIRST REAR ENGINE DRAGSTER CORRECTION

Darr, in the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing you will find a rear engine dragster that was built in 1963. The sign Garlits put on the car says it was a successful rear engine dragster.

In 1964 when they got the evil handling problem fixed, they ran off a string of 6 Top Eliminators in a row. In 1964 they were the very first Top Eliminator at the inaugural event at the drag strip now known as MOROSO. (At that time it was the Palm Beach International Raceway.) In January this Rear Engine Dragster won the #6 spot on the DRAG NEWS Mr. Eliminator list for gas dragsters, becoming the first rear engine dragster to ever make their list.(Garlits usually occupied the #1 spot on the DRAG NEWS list for Fuel dragsters.)

NOW, let's review shall we. Successful Rear Engine Dragster built in 1963 VS Successful Rear Engine Dragster built in 1971. Which one was The First Successful Rear Engine Dragster?
