There was only one topic on the minds of the readers when we returned to the office Tuesday morning: Steve Johnson and his "non-win" at Indy. Here are the comments thus far.

UNBELIEVEABLE!

I cannot believe the arrogance of Graham Light. He really needs a PR guy to talk to the press for him because he comes across as an ASS! I am so impressed with the class that Steve Johnson showed in what was obviously a stupid judgement call. Would they have given the race to Matt if he had been six bike-lengths behind? Probably!

OUT OF FOCUS?

I think Graham Light is so drunk he can not believe his own eyes and then to open his stupid mouth and say the camera angle (which is straight across the finish line) is not a good angle.

I just don't get it!

FROM WHAT ANGLE?

Well, the camera does NOT lie and Steve Johnson not only won P/S motorcycle at Indy, he won by a full front wheel! I don't care what angle there is to the camera, you can see both before, at and a full front wheel length AFTER the finish line, that Johnson is ahead of Matt Smith. I have nothing against Matt but Steve CLEARLY won that race. And when you look at the super late reaction time of Matt, there is no way on the face of this earth that the photo could be wrong.

Electronics DO malfunction and we know this for a fact. If there was no obvious discrepancy in the photo(s) and the results, no one would object, but there is absolutely CLEAR proof Steve won the race. NHRA needs to admit they made a mistake and award the well-earned win to Steve who left first by a bunch and crossed the finish line first by more than a front wheel length as the photos show.

NHRA is robbing Steve of a lot of money and prestige that he earned through hard work and perseverance and that is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! The camera was correct on EVERY other run in eliminations, so there is no logical reason to believe the photo is incorrect for the final round of P/S motorcycle, but there is always a possibility of an electronic malfunction.

And you can tell Graham Light to stop making excuses and admit they made a very unfortunate mistake and they own Steve AND Matt an apology. Don't make a bad situation worse by denying the facts. The camera don't lie, so accept the reality and do what's right.
