WHO YA GONNA BELIEVE?

What a hosing!

Graham Light, in his usual droll way, staring into the camera saying essentially, "Believe me, not your own eyes and the lying video proof!" In any situation calling for a decision, he seems incapable of doing anything approaching the right thing. Not that this is news to anyone, but I needed to vent my frustration at his continued impotent "leadership."

STEVE JOHNSON WINS THE NATIONALS!

I raced early funny cars with Jim Kirby out of Festus, MO, for several years, so I know a little something about the sport (obviously more than Graham Light!).

In fact, I can remember sending a crew member from each team to the finish line to determine who actually won at some of our early match races (it was always better for a strip operator to have some local guy knock off the paid attraction because it was cheaper).

So I'm used to a little dishonesty. However, I thought the winner was the guy who got to the finish line first if he didn't foul. What am I missing here? I never heard of letting the timers determine the winner! Is the NHRA courting some H-D corporate money?

How about raising a little stink to rock the NHRA suits a little bit?

Thanks and regards,

John Martin

SEEING THE LIGHT?

NHRA has done it again. I'm never surprised when a thoughtless decision is handed down by Graham Light; his head is so far up Tom Compton's ass that he'll never see the light of day again. Mr. Light was a racer at one time, but he seems to have had his mind wiped clean with POWERade. Steve Johnson clearly won the final, but it was way too complicated in Mr. Light's eyes to deal with so he spouted some mumbo jumbo about needing to finalize the results. I'll guarantee if it had been one of Schumacher's Army bikes there would have been a lot more thought and deliberation to award the decision to Angelle or Antron.

Does anybody in Glendora really care what we, the racers and fans think? It's time for my NHRA membership to lapse. I know what I saw.
