THE LOADED QUESTION(er)
“August,” first song, first side of the L.A.
group Love’s “Four Sail” LP. August? I can’t
think of anything August right now. First Funny Car driver
in the fours, Chuck Etchells was born in August, Nate Siegel
knocked out Marty Cross in four rounds at Queensboro Stadium,
Long Island City, N.Y. in August of 1922, the NHRA U.S. Nationals
began more times in August than September … whaddaya
want me to do? I know … a quiz to match the scrambled
state of the loaded one’s mind. With eyes closed, I
reach in the opera hat and pull out a slip of paper that says
… “Special Mike Dunn Quiz.”
