9.40 - Leroy Neumayer-Art Chrisman - Feb. 3, 1953 - Santa Ana (From what we hear, Chrisman's 9.40 was the first nine by anything. It was a rolling start in an era when elapsed times were seldom recorded.)

8.99 - Waters-Sughrue-Guinn-Tony Waters - Feb. 1, 1959 - Bakersfield (Waters' blown DeSoto-powered A/Fuel Modified Roadster really was a roadster by modern Fuel Altered standards. Despite a very small extension of the frame in front of the grille, this was the McCoy.)
