Shirley Muldowney and her 13-year-old Italian
Greyhound, Annie, is joined by the "other" Diane
Williams (Mrs. Mark) with the newest addition
to her growing stable of Shelties, Berry "Bear-Bear."
Both the ladies and their dogs got along splendidly.
Some good news for the Tobler's as Shirley's
hubby Rahn will join the Kalitta Racing Team
for the 2004 season. Rahn will be a much welcomed
addition now that Connie is running a second
top fuel team and may add a funny car next year,
but that's only speculation.
Deepest sympathies go out to the family and
friends of Gale Ogden who passed away July 29,
2003 from complications related to diabetes
. . . Happy Birthday wishes to Mr. Flathead
himself, John Bradley, who turns 78 on October
30th . . . More on the Frank Pedregon/Camper
Shell Saga (Frank was the happy recipient of
a new camper shell,
thanks
to a dealership located in Canada that was closed
at the time -- see August column) is that the
crew member who was in the back of the truck holding
down the unbolted camper shell was none other
than magazine editor Scott Cochran . . . On yet
another trip into Canada, Joe Winter and his crew
guy (both long-haired hippie types) were stopped
and strip-searched at U.S. Customs and Immigration
at Kingsport, Washington. The crew member - Scott
Cochran . . . Congratulations to Mark Dean Williams
who wed the lovely Rachael Thompson at a mountain
lodge outside Denver, Colorado. The newlyweds
honeymooned in New Orleans and Mark has already
returned to his job as a certified asbestos remover
. . . Jerry Bickel is having a new home built
on .65 acres of land in Troy, Missouri. It will
feature a 14-car garage and will include 4400
square feet of living space. He and wife Ginny
hope to move in by next Spring . . . Why does
Marty Reid use the terminology "pole position,"
and "laps" when reporting on drag racing? Maybe
someone should tell him those are oval-track colloquialisms
and not used in professional drag racing. Please
send your comments, complaints or input to me
at suzy@dragracingonline.com.
Until next month . . . .
