This is the safety harness
mount I fabricated. Originally the safety harness
bolted through the original floor panels. I
felt the floor had been weakened by cutting
it to clear frame rail. Now we are tied into
the rocker bar, the frame rail and 6"x6" square
panel bolted through floor. There is a matching
6"x6" panel on other side of the floor panel
sandwiching it together for strength.
The body is ready for some primer and paint,
then I can do the new Lexan windows, installing
new DZUS fasteners as needed and some trim work.
The next major project I am starting on this
week is the electrical system. I am going to
use a modular approach I have used on a few
customer race cars I wired. It keeps things
simple to plan and easy to fix if there is a
problem or a change is needed. All the wiring
is visible and it will probably look a little
cluttered, but ease of maintenance and installation
is an important part of this car.

By
the next update I should have the wiring done
and have some good tech tips if you are thinking
about tackling some wiring on your car. The
rear suspension parts should be here so we can
put the Dana and four-link bars under the car
and get some tires back under it. The body should
be painted by then and I will go through the
process of installing the AutoMeter gauges,
MSD Ignition and some vinyl graphics.
We are getting the parts located for the powerglide
transmission and will do the complete assembly
in the shop. Along with my friend and local
transmission guru, Steve Oldani, I will give
you the insider's look at getting the transmission
put together correctly the first time. He will
also give you some tips on getting the most
out of your transmission/converter combination.
Talk to you in a couple weeks. Until then you
can email me at jok@racingnetsource.com
about any tech questions you have. If I don't
have an answer I will find someone who does
and get back to you.
