Hi, I'm writing
from Caracas - Venezuela, I have a 1988 for mustang
with a 347 strocker running in our super gas class
(9:90) I have a stock rear suspension with upper
and lower control arms and a pair of Lakewood
traction bars, but our tracks are not so good
and the car smokes the tires specially when I
gear up, and I am having some problems with the
stock rear box (where the upper control arm hold
the chassis) and I was thinking in switching to
a ladder bar suspension, but my question ins,
Am I going to run quicker with ladder bars than
with the modified stock four link??
Waiting for your reply,
best regards......

Roberto,
Thanks for reading the column and for submitting a good question.
You are definitely limited in what you can do with your stock
four link suspension. The problems you are having with the
stock rear box is quite common. I highly recommend that you
switch to a ladder bar set-up. Ladder bars offer a broad range
of tuneability, and you'll find the car will run faster and
quicker on loose and tight tracks alike.
Thanks,
