Now we assembled the pieces. First, to make it easier we turned the Strange Dana 60 over so the springs would fit down into the pads, now with room to spare. This makes the assembly and bolting easier on a leaf spring Chevy II rather than using multiple jacks and fighting gravity.

When the springs were secured on both sides with new U-bolts we carefully turned the assembly back over rolling the whole unit and springs forward on a floor jack into position under the rear of the car.

Placing the forward spring perch into the original mounts we used the new Grade 8 bolts and the fit was perfect.  Lining up the opposite side we repeated the process sliding in the new bolts.

Once the front was secure it took both of us to jack-up the unit and slowly guide it into the rear shackles, again using new bolts.  It was now fixed firmly in place, a relatively straightforward installation.

Next we head back to JMS Racing Engines to check on all the engine parts before assembly.  The new CNC-ported Air Flow Research aluminum heads have arrived along with the pistons and rods,. We can now put the big block Chevy back together and get ready for the dyno.
