Insert second e-ring onto groove in axle and check assembly. Repeat procedure for the second side and check plunger and weight-spring assembly for free operation. Double check all e-rings for proper seating. Reinstall governor and cover into trans. Use the supplied replacement gasket for TH-400, or O-ring for TH-350 and 700R4. Tighten TH-400 cover bolts to 15 ft-lbs. Install clip on TH-350 and 700R4.

After everything is buttoned up drop the vehicle. Start and allow vehicle to warm up, and then check transmission fluid. Replenish any ATF lost in governor replacement. Test-drive the vehicle and record shift point RPM, and vehicle speed. It's best to make one change at a time, either a weight, or a spring – but not both at once. Don't be alarmed if shift points are not perfect the first try.
