During round two, Eric Dillard set a new Pro Mod record speed of 275.48 mph. He went on to win the Outlaw Pro Mod class.
The 13th annual Street Car Super Nationals was held Nov. 16-19, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The event is put on by Mel Roth and his Premier Street Car Association.
The action kicked off on Thursday with John Stanley stopping the timers with a 5.57-second quarter-mile run with his unique Cadillac.
Thursday was windy and Friday started out the same, but the sky cleared and the wind dropped by afternoon.
On Friday afternoon, Eric Dillard moved into the No. 1 spot with a 5.44 run in his turbocharged “El General.”
In the final, Dillard got a little out of shape but stayed in front of Stanley, who had his own traction trouble.

John Carcini drove his Corvette to the Outlaw 10.5 eighth-mile record of 3.93 seconds.
A new class was added by PCSA for this event, Big Tire; Mel Roth was smiling when he told this reporter that 28 cars had entered the new category. The beautiful Pontiac Firebird shown above made the semi-finals under the hand of Mary Baltzell from Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Gentile came through this event with flying colors. The stock-looking 2014 Ford Mustang ran Pro Mod speeds over 200 mph as well as winning all the marbles in the new Big Tire class.
Another outstanding pro racer, Mark Bevin and his Plymouth Duster joined the fray in three classes: Pro, Triple Index, and Unlimited Products Electronics. For you history buffs, “The Beav” won the Pro category at Phil Painter’s muscle Cars at the Strip four out of five years and finished in the semifinal that fifth time when his car’s torque converter malfunctioned.
