ILLEGAL HEADS IN COMP ELIMINATOR?
One of the Agent's sportsman spies called to
say there is a serious brouhaha going on in
the Econo-altered classes. Seems like in this
class a stock GM part numbered head has to be
used without porting. Also seems like someone
supposedly has got some kind of bogus GM head
that has been ported, supposedly at the factory.
Riiight! NHRA must have really upped the purses
in Comp since DRO ran their B/EA in the eliminator
last year to warrant people to spend this kind
of time and money to cheat! (3-24-2004)
HOLESHOT STAT
Jim Hawkins, DRO statistician, offers this
bit of trivia after the Gators. Del Worsham
evened his holeshot career record with John
Force 4-4 and, despite an overall record of
13-36 versus John, Del owns a 5-4 record in
the final round with Force. Also, this was only
the third time Force has lost on a holeshot
in the fourth round. (Steve Gruenwald photo)

DRO, NII TO SPONSOR MILLICAN
AT SAN ANTONIO
When three-time IHRA Top Fuel champion Clay
Millican takes his Team Werner/Lehman Racing
dragster to the track at San Antonio Raceway
this coming weekend, he'll have a little local
help. Associate sponsors for the IHRA Amalie
Motor Oil Texas Nationals on March 26-28 will
be nii communications, inc., a San Antonio telecom
company, and (ta-da!) DragRacingOnline.com.

The president and CEO of nii is Richard Burk and
his brother, Jeff, is the publisher of DragRacingOnline.com.
Both Burk brothers have been drag racing fans
andparticipants since their high school days in
Amarillo, Texas.
"DragRacingOnline.com covers racing at the
speed of the Internet," said Jeff Burk, "so
it's natural for us to be associated with the
fastest car in the fastest class."
Last year at the inaugural Texas Nationals,
Millican set the IHRA Top Fuel record for elapsed
time with a 4.591-second pass down the quarter-mile
strip.
"We think drag racing is a great way to showcase
the rapid growth of nii communications and the
services that it provides. Clay Millican and
his team owner Peter Lehman are great people.
Plus," Richard Burk added, "it's just a lot
of fun."
Based in San Antonio, nii communications, inc.
(www.niicommunications.com) specializes in providing
telecommunication services to the small business
community. It offers an integrated set of products
and services including local exchange, domestic
and international long distance, enhanced voice,
data and a full suite of Internet services.
They provide services to customers in Texas,
Oklahoma, Illinois and California.
The Agent asks, if you can't promote yourself
on your own magazine, what's the use of having
one? Besides, it's bad enough having one Burk
brother ticked at you, let alone two of 'em.
(And there's a third one, yet.)(3-24-2004)
