STATS UPDATE
Here are a few quick updates on NHRA driver
stats from DRO's statistician, Jim Hawkins.
TOP FUEL: Tony
Schumacher's loss in the final at Columbus was
his first; he's 4-1 in the finals. He also owns
a 3-0 redlight record this season. Clay Millican
is 0-3 in the final round, but I bet his first
win is coming soon.
FUNNY CAR:
Despite winning Columbus, Del Worsham didn't
get a win classified as out-running his opponent,
(both cars under full power to the finish line).
However, he is 10-1 in this category. Only outrun
by Eric Medlen in the second round at Bristol.
Ron Capps has been outrun the most with a 0-5
record in this category along with a 1-9 first
round record.
PRO STOCK:
Despite logging two holeshot wins at Columbus,
and the moniker "Trickie", Rickie Smith has
a 3-2 holeshot record this season. Dave Connolly
picked Trickie Rickie's pocket in the third
round at Columbus and increased in holeshot
record to 5-0. Greg Anderson
has yet to be outrun this year. His only two
round losses were a redlight and a holeshot
by KJ in the third round at Phoenix. [6-17-2004]
WHAT COULD GO WRONG AT THIS EVENT?
The Agent just got word that NHRA Funny Car
legend John Force will make an appearance at
a casino located in East St. Louis, Illinois,
which is just a short drive from Gateway International
Raceway. Force will be signing autographs and
judging the Miss Gateway Contest at the Casino
Queen's Club 777 Thursday night, June 24, from
8-10 p.m. Let's see -- a beauty contest, a casino
with a liquor license, and John Force. The Agent
will buy a ticket if necessary to witness this
event. What could go wrong? [6-17-2004]
HARLEY DAVIDSONS ON NITRO IN NORWALK!
Doug Vancil and the Vance & Hines/Drag Specialties
team recently ventured to IHRA's speed Mecca
at Norwalk, Ohio for an AHDRA event. Vancil
ran the quarter in his fuel-injected, nitro-burning
real Harley (it has a four-cycle engine) to
a 6.290/221.74 pass. In the process he ran the
eighth in 4.097 seconds to break the previous
record of 4.159 set in 2003 by Steve Stordeur.
