CAPPS TO SCHUMACHER RACING
Hey, Capps Crusaders, get down off of that
ledge! Agent 1320 has learned from a couple
of his very reliable operatives that there
have been ongoing negotiations between Don
Schumacher Racing and JON Capps, the younger
brother of Skoal Racing Nitro Funny Car pilot
Ron, who's still under contract to the Snake.
According to one source, Don and Jon are working
on a Top Fuel dragster deal and have been talking
for most of this year. It sounds like this
may be the second dragster "Shoe" mentioned
to the Agent at the Mile High Nationals.
Jon, currently 7th in Pacific Division points
standings, has been driving the Jackson Racing
Top Alcohol Funny Car on a limited schedule
since 2002, focusing on West Coast NHRA POWERade
events and divisional competition. Jon won
the Division 7 event at Famoso Raceway last
May and he'll be driving the alky Camaro in
Dallas this weekend. The younger Capps is a
racing school instructor living in Las Vegas
and has been a movie stunt driver.
According to the Agent’s operatives
he may be packin’ his bags for Indiana
soon. [9-23-2004]
