WEATHER CAUSES ANOTHER FLORIDA
CLOSURE
Due to the impending arrival in Florida of
Hurricane Jeanne, Crane Cams will be closed
Monday, September 27th. The Daytona Beach company
anticipates re-opening on Tuesday, September
28th, assuming that electrical power is available
and that the facilities are safe for their
staff members to enter.
They ask that during this time you do not
send orders via FAX. Their system has no "memory" in
which to store orders in the event of a power
or telephone service outage, so the orders
will not be received. Instead, please
send FAX orders after they have re-opened. [9-24-2004]
PSTA LAWSUIT PLAINTIFFS
MAKE FORTUNE 400 LIST!
Well, maybe. Probably not. But if you were
to believe the current rumor that is going
around about that lawsuit you would have to
believe the above headline too. The latest
rumor (one actually passed on to the Agent
by a professional journalist who should know

better)
is that the settlement that the NHRA supposedly
is offering the PSTA is one million bucks each
and (you just can't make this kind of stuff up!)
Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Let's do the math. There are 32 plaintiffs
on the PSTA lawsuit, which means NHRA would
be giving these guys $32,000,000 plus IRP,
which probably would be valued at over $100,000,000
over a period of say 10-15 years if you take
in to account the revenues from the drag and
oval track racing and the value of the land
itself.
Is someone yanking the Agent's chain here?
Puh-leeze! Instead of going to trial and then
perhaps appealing an adverse decision for
a decade or more, NHRA is willing to settle
for paying out $132,000,000? If this rumor
turns out to be even a little bit true, the
Agent has two ideas. 1. NHRA should fire their
lawyers and hire the one representing the Pro
Stock Truck owners and 2. The Agent should
hire the PSTA's lawyer and sue someone for
anything, because this guy is obviously freakin'
brilliant! [9-24-2004]
FOUR ROCKET MOTOR DRAGSTER?
If you thought the above note was slightly
off center you haven't read anything yet. The
Agent got this little tidbit over the wire
this morning. Seems like one Carolyn Campbell
will be testing a dragster powered by four
rocket motors at England's Santa Pod Raceway.
If anyone out there gets a photo of this event,
please forward it to the Agent. Four rocket
motors! Are they kidding? Sammy Miller would
be in awe. [9-24-2004]
NHRA AWARDS CEREMONY CHANGES
There will be some changes to the 2004 NHRA
POWERade Drag Racing Series Awards Ceremony.
Instead of being held at the Kodak Theatre
in Los Angeles and open to the general public,
this year's edition will be held in Rancho
Mirage, CA and will be by invitation only.
The Westin Mission Hills Resort will host
the November 15 event, which will feature a
pre-event cocktail reception, a formal sit-down
banquet and an after-party at the Bella Vista
Restaurant.
The Agent trusts that his invitation is in
the mail. Well. . .maybe not. [9-24-2004]
