SHOEBOXES RULE IN IHRA PRO MOD
Those busy folks at IHRA have just announced new weight
breaks for their Pro Mod division. Obviously in at attempt
to curtail the building of new “Pro Stock” bodied
Pro Mods like the Dodge Stratus, Pontiac GTO and others,
IHRA's Mike Baker has raised the minimum weight for those
cars to 2725 pounds. Other body styles such as the ‘53
'Vette, ’53 Studebaker, and ’63 'Vette will
stay at 2700 if using a supercharged engine. The ’55-57
Chevys and, strangely, the ’41 Willys will get a 50-lb.
weight break if they retain stock body lines, width and
roofline. The Agent has to ask, when did any ’41 Willys
currently in Pro Mod even remotely resemble a stock ’41
Willys? (DRO file photo by Charles Strutt) [11-28-2005]
