BRISSETE TO FILL IN FOR DUPUY

Doug Herbert has shifted duties of his veteran tuner and tuning consultant Jim Brissette to interim crew chief for the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster while Wayne Dupuy recovers from injuries suffered in a recent car accident. Brissette has worked with Herbert for several years and served as the tuning consultant to Dupuy on the Snap-on dragster in 2005.

"Jim is going to be inducted into the drag racing hall-of-fame in 2006 and he knows my racecar and Wayne’s tune up better than anyone," Herbert said.

"We're lucky we have Brissette with our team, especially right now. Jim worked with Wayne over the past six months and he knows exactly what needs to be done. Wayne needs some time to recuperate, so Jim is going to step in and help the team start off the 2006 season right where we left off, as a serious contender." (Ron Lewis photo) [12-21-2005]

It's never too early to start the drag racing season, so for you dedicated racers, Jan. 1, 2006, is your day. Cordova Dragway Park in Cordova, IL, will host Hangoverfest V. The racing will begin at noon for all street-legal vehicles, including motorcycles. The heated pit café will be open and serving $1 Bloody Marys to those over 21 and not racing. Promoter Scott Gardner is providing free aspirin to everyone who needs it.

Dragway 42 in West Salem, OH, will hold their 7th annual Hangover Nationals for street-legal cars. Gates will open at noon. The Agent says to keep an eye out for a silver '98 Ford Escort ZX2 with Christmas lights in the car. We want a photo. [12-21-2005]
