HOPE NHRA DOESN’T
FINE THE GUYS FOR RECKLESS DRIVING IN THE PITS
As the Pro Stockers lined up for Winternationals tech inspection,
Larry Morgan’s Z-Max-sponsored Dodge Stratus, towed
by a golf cart, moved up a little too quickly in the long
line. Before anyone could hit the brakes on Morgan’s
car, Ron Krisher’s wheelie bars speared the nose on
the newly painted Hemi. Morgan, his wife and crew laughed
it off as Larry said, “Hey, I’ve driven racecars
with more damage than that! A two-by-four and some black
tape will fix it up as good as new, you won’t even
notice it.” Morgan and Krisher went on through the
tech templates without a hitch. (Darr

CHARITY BEGINS AT HOMES?
The Agent hears that our NHRA friends on Financial Way in
Glendora, CA have a new venture. In conjunction with Greystone
Homes, NHRA is building four single-story homes and six
two-story homes on 2.9 acres owned by NHRA. Greystone Homes
is a well-known builder of luxury developments with amenities
like golf courses near the NHRA’s Atlanta track which
is home to the annual outing associated with the Atlanta
NHRA national event. The 2.9-acre parcel NHRA and Greystone
are developing is adjacent to the Glendora Country Club
and just off of the NHRA parking lot. The homes are being
built on what will become a private street based upon a
zoning variance allowed by the Glendora city council.
The Agent wonders how a not-for-profit, tax exempt company
like the NHRA can build a sub-division. Did NHRA members
finance this little venture with their dues? Where do the
proceeds from the sale go? Is this a retirement community
for the NHRA execs? Does NHRA now stand for National Home
Rebuilders Association? Ah, the Agent has so many questions
and gets so few answers. [2-10-2005]
