SMITH BUYING NHRA UPDATE!
One of the Agent's operatives just happened to be in the
Charlotte airport today returning from a trip to the West
Coast.

As
the operative was waiting at the baggage carousel for his
bags he noticed six clear plastic shipping containers with
snap-on lids (like you can buy at Office Max) coming off
of the conveyor and circling onto the carousel. He then
noticed that the containers had a shipping label with NHRA's
name and California address on the "from" part.
And on the "to" portion of the label they were
addressed to Speedway Motors Inc. at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Since the boxes were clear, the operative noted that the
contents appeared to be not promo material but files and
file boxes. Now, perhaps this was simply material NHRA was
shipping to Mr. Smith for the upcoming race at Bristol,
but you would think that kind of stuff would go straight
to Bristol Dragway, not Charlotte Motor Speedway. Hmmm.

$10,000-TO-WIN OUTLAW PRO MOD INVITATIONAL
ADDED TO ROCKET CITY NATS
Huntsville Dragway's Rocket City Nationals has added an
invitation-only sixteen car Outlaw Pro Mod field to the
event's schedule. The race will pay the winner $10,000 and
the runner-up $2,000. (See the Rocket City Nationals ad
on the next page for a complete payout.) Invitations will
go out to racers who have won an AMS/TLR race at NHRA national
events, an IHRA Pro Mod race or an ADRL national event (either
division) in the past year. A core group of Huntsville Outlaw
Pro Mod racers will receive invitations and selected other
Pro Mod teams and drivers.
"I've got a bunch of really good outlaw Pro Mod racers
here at Huntsville Dragway," said Howard, "and
I want to do something for them since they've supported
me over the years. I'm going to invite a bunch of my local
racers and about 18 of the best of the rest and we're going
to have a race for Outlaw Pro Mods on the eighth-mile that
pays the winner ten Grand! We're going to see who has the
baddest Outlaw Pro Mod on the July 4th weekend." [4-21-2005]
