LELAND KOLB DIES

Drag racing pioneer Leland F. Kolb, 75, passed away May 1, 2005 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was owner of C and C Auto Parts in Long Beach, CA for 30 years. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 6, 4:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel in Lake Havasu City.

ALKY FUNNY CAR TRIVIA

Don't know why, but the Agent got to wondering just how many Alky Funny cars there are out there. So we called one of our sources who said that there are 207 licensed TA/FC

drivers in the NHRA. The Agent figures there are probably a couple of dozen more with IHRA licenses. And NHRA doesn't think these guys need a place at the SPORTSnationals? Sheesh. Anyone out there got a figure for the number of T/AD drivers? [5-4-2005]

LUCAS AND COMPTON IN DISCUSSIONS

One of the Agent's operatives reports that NHRA's Sportsman Series sponsor honcho Forrest Lucas had a serious meeting of some sort with NHRA prez Tom Compton at a very recent NHRA event. The Agent won't pretend to know what the meeting was about but rumors are going around that it wasn't all that pleasant a conversation. [5-4-2005]
