EDDYVILLE CHANGES PRO MOD RACE DATE

Eddyville, Iowa track operator Wes Buck originally had his June Pro Mod race scheduled for the 18th, but he has moved that date back one week to June 25th.

"Donnle Little's race at St. Louis is also scheduled the weekend of June 18th," Buck explained. "I know it's really hard for him to change a date at the Gateway track so, rather

than force the Pro Mod racers to make a decision between tracks on that weekend, I moved my date back a week. Since both Eddyville and St. Louis races are eighth-mile and we share some of the same racers, I just decided it would be best for everyone to move my race back a week."

A tip of the Agent's topper to track operator Wes Buck. Drag racing could use a little more of the concern for the racers and fans that he has shown in changing his date. [5-19-2005]

VIRGIL'S TOY

Top Fuel team owner Virgil Hartman's nostalgia flopper attracted a lot of fan interest at the recent Atlanta NHRA event. Hartman said he put the car together with "some spare parts lying around the shop" and plans to use it "just to have a little fun." His son Richard Hartman, who qualified his own car in the pro Nitro Coupe field at Atlanta, will be driving the '71 Mustang-bodied machine at the upcoming 50th anniversary event July 9, at Southeastern International Dragway in Dallas, GA. Virgil told the Agent he plans to build a second car to take them both out match racing and bring back a taste of the old days for modern fans. (Ian Tocher photo)  [5-19-2005]

BERSERKO BOB BACK BEHIND THE MIKE!

The Agent sees where legendary and certified gonzo track announcer "Berserko" Bobby Doerrer will be working the tower on July 9 at the 50th Anniversary race for fabled Southeastern Dragway. Fuel Flops, Fuel Alts, front-motored fuel cars and Berserko working in the tower in the nude (well, maybe not). Gates open and noon and racing starts at 6:00 p.m. DRO will be at the event and we suggest that y'all Beeee Theeeeere!  [5-19-2005]
