KNOLL STEPPING OUT OF TOP FUEL RIDE?
DRO got a press release that seems to indicate that Torco
headman and former Top Dragster shoe, Evan Knoll, may be
cutting short his foray into the Top Fuel ranks. Knoll
is a licensed Top Fuel pilot but the press release seems
to indicate that, due to business reasons, Knoll may not
stick to the 10-12 race schedule he tentatively announced
before the start of the season and instead give the money
that would fund his operation to budding IHRA star Doug
Foley (shown above).
"I just want a Torco Race Fuels Top Fuel Dragster
racing for the championship," Knoll said. "If
it can't be me then I want someone capable of representing
us in that capacity."
Torco has also joined Gary Densham's Funny Car operation
as a major associate sponsor.
"Evan Knoll decided a while back he didn't want to
dump all of his advertising budget into one team," said
Densham. "Instead he wanted to spread the wealth around
and help out a bunch of race teams. Luckily, we're one
of those teams and, let me tell you, it's been a big morale
booster over here."
Densham added, "I've been on a spending spree all
day ordering all the parts on my wish list." [5-24-2005]
