IT'S BURKART AND IT'S WILBER, OR THE 1320 NOTE THAT WON'T DIE
The Agent got a note from the Worsham's PR guy, Bob Wilber, clearing up the CSK team's body status. When we printed the correction supplied by Mr. Wilber we misspelled Mr. Wilber's name. Then we got a note from our source for that item telling us that his source for the bit was none other than Del Worsham himself and he included a photo of the Toyota body and this note: "I got that straight from Del, on Saturday. He stated that Phil's car was in the hauler, which it was evidence the photos I sent and he said that his was being wrapped in California. This was confirmed by a Blue car crew member."
All of which proves the DRO credo that "No good deed goes unpunished!" Toyota and the CSK team are getting a lot of ink for a relatively minor event. (Brian Losness photo) [8-12-2005]

and he hopes to have the track up and running by February 2005. Marocco declined to name any of his new investors who are operating under the name Banning Airport Associates.
Since the FAA has a big part in whether the track ever gets built, DRO contacted them about this change and was told by a spokesman from the Los Angeles office of the Federal Aviation Administration regarding the 20 acre parcel which is part of the Banning development, "Clearly this change signals a need to dispose of the land originally designated for airport expansion. The City (of Banning) now needs to take action with the FAA prior to any negotiations to change the use of that parcel of land."
When asked if a land swap were possible as an exchange for the Federally purchased land, the spokesman said, "We do not have to accept an exchange. First there's an obligation to use the parcel for airport development."
A spokeswoman for the City of Banning Economic Development office stated this week that the 20 acre parcel (the Federally purchased land) is "an important part" of the development. After five years the long, strange trip that is the Banning saga continues. [8-12-2005]
