RIEGER RUNS 6.677/207.481 IN ENGINE TESTING
Bob
Rieger, 1999 NMCA Pro Street World Champion, is still awaiting the Jerry
Bickel chassis for his ‘57 Chevy coupe, but the engine is ready for
the 2000 season. The team put the Ken Duttweiler turbocharged engine
in the championship-winning S-10 and ran 6.677 and 207.481—both speed
and e.t. beat the current NMCA records! The team plans to debut the
’57 at Moroso Motorsports Park, February 26-27.
MOROSO TO CAMPAIGN A C-5 IN 2000
NMCA Real Street racer Rick Moroso is having a new C-5 Corvette built
to replace the ‘61 Vette that he (and his dad before him) have raced
since 1963. Moroso is to have renowned Stock/SuperStock car builder
F.J. Smith build the car which he hopes will be done in time for the
NMCA season opener at Moroso Motorsports Park. The car will be powered
by a Jack Roush/Bob Rinaldi-built Chevy small block.
BUTLER GETS BLOWN
Supercomp/ bracket hitter and former IHRA World Champ Tim Butler will
be campaigning a new dragster this year powered by an Oddy/Perfection
Race Engines-built blown rat motor. This motor combination is the brainchild
of Oddy/Perfection’s engine builder Scott Walker. Butler plans to campaign
the entire IHRA national event circuit in 2000 running in the Top Dragster
class.
