"LICENSE AND REGISTRATION, PLEASE"

When the St. Peters, Missouri Police Department decided to build a race car for their D.A.R.E. program, they didn’t have to go far. Employees of the municipal garage, who normally maintain city vehicles, brought their expertise to the project and did all of the work turning the ’94 Caprice into a race car, except for the paint and lettering. To see a complete tour of the car build-up go to stpetersdarecar.virtualave.net

Officer Tom Forgue will be taking the car on tour shortly, although fellow officers have asked him to keep it off the street (see photo above). ROCKIN’ IN THE MILLENNIUM

Rockingham Dragway will host a Memorial Day weekend event projected to be the richest in bracket racing history. The "Millennium Million for the Benefit of Hospice," patterned after the B&M Million is expected to draw the 500 entrants needed to assure a $1,000,000 payout to the winner.

Although the Millennium Million will include "best package" awards like those popularized at the B&M Million, promoters Steve Earwood, Jim Turner and Bob Harris promise some new wrinkles including a $100,000 bonus to be paid to any driver who records a perfect run during a special "Run for the Money" time trial preceding eliminations.

Racers interested in acquiring technical information or discussing specific tech concerns should contact Bob Harris at 919-929-8605. For other information, contact Earwood at Rockingham Dragway, 910-582-3400, or Turner or Harris at Piedmont Dragway, 336-449-7411.
