DANTONI GOING NHRA PRO MOD ROUTE
DRO has learned that Street Legal racer Marc Dantoni who has been on
of the dominant racers in that arena in recent years is making the jump
to NHRA Pro Mod for the 2003 season. In a conversation at the Fastest
Street Car/Pro Edelbrock awards banquet during the PRI Show in Indianapolis,
Dantoni told DRO that he recently took delivery of a new Tommy Mauney
race car and plans to run the NHRA and IHRA series next season. He will
be using the EFI/Nitrous Oxide injected Pat Musi-built power plants
that he has been utilizing the past several seasons. (Steve Gruenwald

TOP STOCK PROGRAM FOR NHRA?
The Agent heard from a fairly reliable source that NHRA is looking
at a crate motored, heads-up Stock class that would be contested at
some of their divisional events. Evidently the days of NHRA only adopting
classes that they have developed is as dead as Modified Eliminator.

The Agent keeps hearing that NHRA is seriously looking at adding three
"major" Sportsman-only events to their schedule some time in the future.
These races would be something like the old SportsNationals that NHRA
ran for several years at Bowling Green, KY. The Agent also hears that
if the races become a reality Pro Mods could be added to the program.
Sounds good to Agent 1320! [12-10-2002]
