ALGON FOUNDER DIES

Albert Gonsalves, designer and manufacturer of "ALGON" fuel injection, died recently at the age of 80. He was a pioneer in the field of racing mechanical fuel injection. His designs and innovations were used in many forms of racing- drags, sprints, midgets, Bonneville racing and drag boats.

His family is putting together a "memory album" and would like to hear from anyone who might have some experiences with Al or his injection systems. HENDRIKS RETURNS TO JET CAR SEAT

Al Hanna has announced a driver change for the Hanna Motorsports "Queen of Diamonds" 300 mph Jet Dragster program. Replacing Jessica Willard will be Aggi Hendriks of Hillsboro, Oregon. Aggi Hendriks carries heavy credentials back into the sport of drag racing as she was the first woman in history licensed in the jet category. As driver of the 'Odyssey' Jet Dragster, based in Chicago, IL, Aggi toured the nation setting multiple track e.t. and speed records throughout the 1980s and early '90s.

"The sport of professional jet dragster racing is special to me," Hendriks said. "When I received the call from the Hannas, I saw this as an opportunity to renew old friendships and make many new ones as well. I look forward to getting back into the swing of things and helping the Hanna family grow into the future."

After testing and licensing in late June, Aggi will make her debut July 3 at Raceway Park, Englishtown, NJ, followed by appearances at tracks including New England Dragway, Atco Raceway, and Maple Grove Raceway. [6-20-2002]
