45. SCOTTY RICHARDSON
Of course Scotty Richardson, not to mention brother Edmond, have been assissins in NHRA action, but what about IHRA? Brace yourself, but Scotty, according to the IHRA/Summit 2000 Media Guide, won just one IHRA eliminator title. I know…I know…I couldn't believe it either. He won the 1988 IHRA Chief Nationals 10.90 eliminator at the Texas Motorplex, and as Porky Pig would say, "Th-th-th-that's all folks."

46. KEN VENEY
As great as his accomplishments have been, Ken Veney's stunts in the "Veney's Vega" injected A/FC were close to the level he's achieved now. At the 1973 Orange County Nitro Championships, Veney ran an absolutely unheard-of 7.09 in the track's Combo Eliminator, which included A/FCs, AA/FAs, Top Gas Dragsters, and blown gas supercharged coupes. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I think low e.t. for an A/FC at the time was something like a 7.28. The NHRA record for A/FC in mid-year was a 7.45, also run by Veney. You can count on a vote here, namely that Veney was the greatest A/FC racer ever.

47. BILLY MEYER

The first professionally-built tractor/trailer race car hauler was debuted by Meyer in 1977 with his SMI "Motivator" ... Meyer was the first Funny Car racer to better Don Prudhomme's historic '82 Indy 5.63 when he ran a backed-up 5.62 at the 1984 IHRA Fall Nationals in Bristol, Tenn. ... Meyer won the 1980 IHRA Funny Car World Championship, edging out Paul Smith in Larry Coogle's "Sting" and Raymond Beadle's "Blue Max" ... Meyer won eight IHRA National events in 13 final-round appearances. (Photo above by Jeff Burk)
