FLOWMASTER Outlaws,
AMS All-Stars Meet for Third Time

9/29/05

heir first battle ended in dramatic fashion; the second was a blowout. Now, a team of Outlaw Pro Mod drivers and their counterparts on the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Challenge circuit will meet for a third time to determine who deserves to be called the best Pro Mod racers in the world.

The result will be determined Sunday, when 11-man teams representing the FLOWMASTER Outlaws (drivers who compete mostly on eighth-mile tracks throughout the southern U.S.) and the AMS All-Stars (drivers who compete mostly in the Pro Mod Challenge series) meet at the ADRL Fatheadz.com DRAGSTOCK II event presented by DragRacingOnline.com at Carolina Dragway. The Outlaws-vs-AMS format will replace the event's originally scheduled "USA vs The World" team event.

"This was literally a case of 'back by popular demand,'" said ADRL President Kenny Nowling. "After receiving numerous phone calls and e-mails from Pro Mod teams and fans requesting a third AMS/FLOWMASTER  challenge, we decided it made a lot of sense. Also, some of our overseas drivers had informed us that they were having some logistical difficulties in arranging to get to the U.S. and back home again."

Teams representing the FLOWMASTER Outlaws and AMS All-Stars have met twice before at ADRL events, with each side winning once. At last year's inaugural DRAGSTOCK event, the AMS team scored a narrow 21-18 win in a contest that wasn't decided until the final pair went down the track. At May's ADRL DRAGPALOOZA event in Valdosta, Ga., the Outlaws turned the tables in a big way, crushing the AMS team, 31-8, in an event that was mathematically over just after its halfway point.

The ADRL's unique team-challenge format pits groups of 11 drivers against each other in three rounds of competition. Each head-to-head win is worth one point, and each round has bonus points available for low ET and top speed, making a total of 39 possible points.

Following is a list of the winningest drivers in the two previous ADRL team challenges, including the team each is eligible to compete for in Sunday's competition at DRAGSTOCK II.
