PRE RACE 1320 NOTES

BRYAN DYAR EXPRESSES HIS APPRECIATION AT DRAGSTOCK II
WAYNE DYAL NAMED GRAND MARSHALL

At last year's inaugural Dragstock, racer Bryan Dyar suffered a fiery accident that seriously damaged his blown '53 Studebaker. He was pulled from the burning race car by Carolina Dragway employee Wayne Dyal the first person to reach the still-burning car. Dyal has been named Grand Marshall for Dragstock II in appreciation for his actions by ADRL’s Kenny Nowling.

Fellow competitors Jason and Mitchell Scruggs, Scotty Cannon, and Mike Ashley (who originally sold the car to Dyar) immediately got together and bought Dyar a new body for his car, and Ashley crew member Mark Adkins donated the money he won in a drawing held at the event to Dyar to help in the re-building.

Dyar and his crew have worked all this year to resurrect the car and it's made it to the paint shop, but won't be ready to compete at Dragstock II. Regardless, Dyar will be in attendance as the just announced Grand Marshall and will be pitted next to Scotty Cannon's rig. To show his appreciation to his fellow racers for all of their moral support and financial help to get him back to racing, Dyar is inviting all the racers and crewmembers who assisted him to eat with his and Cannon's crews on Friday night. "We will provide barbeque and drinks as a way to say thanks for your help last year during my accident… Please stop by Scotty's pit area where I will have things set up for some barbeque and a personal thanks from me and my crew!" MORE ENTRIES COMING IN

North Carolinian Randy Weatherford has entered the Pro Nitrous class with a '63 split-window 'Vette, and you can add two more names to the Pro Extreme class: Jeff Fisher's blown Datsun 280Z and Bubba Stanton's second car, a blown 'Vette. That brings the total car count as of Thursday to 61! [9-29-2005]
