FINALLY IT'S OVER!!! JENKINS, STOTT TAKE TITLES

hannon Jenkins continued his domination of the ADRL Pro Nitrous division and became the first Dragstock Pro Nitrous winner by defeating arch ADRL rival Dan Parker. It was a classic Jenkins performance as he out drove and out performed Parker for the win. Jenkins had a .059 reaction time and an ET of 4.049 to easily defeat Parker’s 4.106 ET and .061 reaction time. When asked before the final round Parker said he wasn’t going to change anything in his combination and just go with what he had. On the other hand Jenkins told DRO that he was going to add clutch, which apparently was the right thing, do.

The Pro Extreme final was as close as you can ask for at the stripe. The margin of victory for Quain Stott over John Lynam was just six thousandths of a second or 20 inches but the race was really over in the first four feet. As you can see from the photo of the final.

Lynam ran a very respectable 3.976 at 187.00 which should have been good enough to win but his .116 reaction time to Stott’s 086 RT combined with a 4.000 ET gave him his first Dragstock title.

FINAL ROUNDS COMING UP FOR PRO NITROUS AND PRO EXTREME

arolina Dragway 12:50 AM This pre-final round report brought to you by the open 24 hours Huddle House in downtown Augusta, GA which where the DRO crew will be enjoying fine dining after the final rounds go off at the scheduled 1:30 AM time. Now lets go to press.

The first two rounds of the Pro Nitrous eliminations offered the diehard ADRL fans just about everything a race fan can see in one round of action. In the first pairing Shannon Jenkins used up Charles Carpenter with a track record 4.016/183.90 which was not only Low ET of the event so far but the second quickest nitrous lap in ADRL history. In the second pair Randy Weatherford bulbed away his chances with a .065 red light and gave the automatic win to a wounded Sonny Tindal. Johnny Pilcher made short work of a dead late Tommy Mauney with a 4.110/178.12 to Mauney’s shut-off mid five lap and Dan Parker administered the same kind of beat down with a 4.19 that easily covered Rod Houck’s 11 second effort,

In the semi-finals Jenkins combined a holeshot and a 4. 090/181.30 to ease by Tindal’s dead game 4.115. Jenkins put nearly three hundredths in the bank on the green and never looked back. On the other side of the ladder Dan Parker’s 020 light and 4.091 was too much for Pilcher who’s 4.13 and .045 light effort was futile. The Jenkins and Parker finale sets up to be a classic match between the two men who’ve dominatedPro Nitrous in ADRL competition this year.

The first two rounds of Pro Extreme were just as entertaining as the Pro Nitrous eliminations that preceded them. John Lynam lowered his own event ET standard and upped the Top Speed mark with a 3.929/187.76 thrashing of a troubled Rodney Rosenstiel. Tommy Mauney who was the only driver to qualify for both eliminators exited in the first round in Pro Extreme just as he had in Pro Nitrous when Mike Neal ran a 3.981/177.00 to his shut off five-second timing. Bil Clanton’s comatose .106 light doomed his fourth straight three-second effort- a 3.978 to failure as the Herninator used a .047 light and 4.034 ET to get to the second round. Quain Stott was the beneficiary of Josh Hernandez’s .001 red light but his 3.969/184.62 would have been very hard to beat.

The semi-finals saw Lynam bury Neal with a 3.954/185.46 to a 4.061 despite Neal’s minor hole shot. Quain Stott just managed to overtake Sheppard to advance to the finals.

His .078 light and 4.009 lap just got him around Sheppard at the stripe. Sheppard’s .053 light and 4.11 lap made a race of it.

FINALS COMING UP ...
