Brew's team mate in the doorslammer ranks,
Daniel Callaghan missed out on the bump spot
in his gorgeous CAL 400 Racing Murray Anderson
Camaro, a 6.452 missed the eight car bump by
a tenth, but the team will definitely improve
on this given Brew's vast knowledge of running
blown alcohol engines to the max.
Having not such a G'Day, Grant O'Rourke missed
the bump, but would also have appreciated missing
the wall after severe tireshake is thought to
have knocked him cold and unable to save the
car from swinging hard left across the track
and impacting the barrier at 100 feet. Despite
a severly rung bell, O'Rourke was back at the
track the following day and has set himself
the target of racing the team's back-up car
by December.
Doorslammer is essentially a mix of fifties
US body styles with a smattering of late model
Aussie GM products. Maurice 'Fabulous" Fabietti
has managed to secure factory backing for his
2004/5 campaign, and must have impressed the
sponsors with a stout 6.267/229.66 to make the
field and a semi-final finish to Brett Stevens.
Another of the Stude's is Robin Judd's Moonshine
Bandit entry, and another, along with O'Rourke,
to make the long trek over from Western Australia
( for those of you not 100% up your geography
of Oz - look up the Nullaboor on google and
think "strewth that's a bit of a drive"). Judd
made the effort worthwhile squeaking in on the
bump with a 6.321/223.58.
