Up next it was the classic dragster versus Funny Car match up with the father & son team of Mike and Troy Coker of Carmel, IN, in their "Greenskeeper" dragster with an injected small block on 50 percent nitro, paired against Tracy Klingerman in he and his brother Mark's "Fuelish" '77 Monza Funny Car with a blown BBC on alcohol. Coker won the match up with 4.82 against the Funny Car as Klingerman had handling troubles at the hit and came close to crossing the center line. The final pair of round 1 found Jerry Dronenburg of Chenoa, IL, in his "23 T" blown 440 cubic inch altered set, to run Jim Gravitt of Saybrook, IL, in his 1971 Jerry Dawson-built FED with another SBC on 20 percent nitro. Droneburg took the win light with a 4.83 to Gravitt's off pace 5.45.

The semi-final round first pair found Beaird taking on the #1 qualifier Newingham. Beaird had the advantage at the starting line with an .045 light to Newingham's .290 but couldn't hold on as Newingham powered on through to the win with 4.60 ET to Beaird's 4.94. The second pair pitted the #2 qualifier Coker against Dronenburg. Coker was caught napping at the light as his quicker, but losing 4.75 could not make up the difference as Dronenburg got the holeshot win with a 4.86 @ 147 mph.

In the final it was Larry Newingham in the FED over Jerry Dronenburg's Altered for the 2005 Nostalgia Nationals A/Fuel title.
