FUNNY CAR

DENSHAM NOTE

Gary Densham scored his fifth career victory and first of the 2003 season in his Auto Club Ford Mustang. Densham sped to the finish line in 4.876 seconds at 320.85 mph to outrun Del Worsham, who shut the clocks off in 4.906 at 315.67 in his Checker Schuck's Kragen Pontiac Firebird. After going 243 events without a win, Densham has five wins in his last 32 national event starts.

SKUZA GETTING' DOWN WID IT

When the Dean Skuza camp gave up their Mopar Stratus bodies there was some talk in the pits that they would have trouble getting down the track, especially since the Stratus bodies have the capability of being trimmed by the use of front and rear spoilage to adjust the down force on the front, rear or total body area. Evidently, someone forgot to tell Don and Dean Skuza. All they did was rip off a stellar 4.821/308.11 to qualify second in the field. Kind of makes you think that aero isn't all that important if you have enough horsepower.
