In the final round it came down to Canada versus California with Glen Kerunsky and John Sciapli. Saving his best for last, Kerunsky laid down the new track record (remember 6,500-ft altitude adjusted) cranking out a fine 6.42, 221.78 mph over Sciapli's 1957 Chevy which popped a blower on the pass. Kerunsky moved his Calgary-based '57 into the points lead for the West Coast Pro Mod Assn. on that pass.
