Oh the stories these two drag racing icons
could put into a tell-all book! How come the rest of us keep on
getting older and "Lovely" Linda just keeps on.
Whit Bazemore had the baddest Fuel Coupe in
drag racing for most of the last part of the 2001 season thanks
to crew chief/tuner Lee Beard. The former photographer to the stars
turned driver not only gave his owner a U.S. Nationals win, but
extended the competition with John Force to almost the last race
of the season trying to win Bazemore's first Winston World Championship.
Phil Burkhardt (near lane) and Jerry Toliver
squared off at Pomona. Rumor has it this race might have been the
last time we'll see Toliver in a WWF backed car.
IHRA T/F World Champ Clay Millican ran a 4.50
something pass at Pomona in his Mike Kloeber-tuned Werner Enterprises
rail. He also went deep into eliminations on race day.
