Larry Dixon suspended by NHRA

The NHRA imposed an indefinite suspension of competition privileges against Larry Dixon for violating NHRA Rules, particularly Section 1.3.1 Participant Conduct and 1.6.3 Chassis Inspection of the 2017 NHRA Rulebook.

 

NHRA Tech Department discovered the use of a NHRA chassis tag on an unauthorized and unapproved two-seat dragster.  Any further incidents could result in further action.  Larry can appeal the decision, per the 2017 NHRA Rulebook.

 

Dixon, still looking for NHRA Top Fuel sponsorship, has been consulting with the IHRA. At the SEMA Show he brought out his NitroX2, a two-seat Top Fueler, to give the public a taste of what it is like to drive a TF dragster.

 

Dixon has already made numerous testing runs with the all-new NitroX2 Top Fuel dragster in preparation for the new program.

 

“Larry Dixon Racing has now created an opportunity to actually put a racing fan safely in a seat next to a pro drivers in a two-seat Top Fueler and make a pass,” said Doug Evans, Secretary and Past Chairman of SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association). “I think this is an outstanding way to reach out and get people excited about all things racing and automotive.”

 

Dixon is teaming with Traxxas, the Fastest Name in Radio Control, to unveil the NitroX2 car this week as well as announcing the Traxxas Top Fuel Experience Sweepstakes.  This contest will give a lucky winner the chance to take a ride with Larry in the NitroX2 two-seat Top Fuel dragster.  [11/06/17]

East Coast, Wet Coast

Last weekend saw the running of the IHRA East Coast Nationals at Australia’s Sydney Dragway and (wouldn’t you know) after four months of drought, the rain came with a vengeance.

 

Thanks to a sterling effort from the officials, the Pro brackets were completed with Texan Frankie “The Madman” Taylor winning the Pro Slammer (Pro Mod to you northerners) bracket while Californian Top Fuel driver Ashley Sanford went out in the first round.

Summit racers join ‘Operation Appreciation’ for tour of Japan

For the seventh consecutive year, Summit Racing Equipment and Armed Forces Entertainment will join together to send a group of top Motorsports competitors overseas to visit American troops on duty in remote locations.

 

The annual trip, appropriately coined Operation Appreciation, will this year make stops at various stations in Japan. The drivers and riders will have the opportunity to meet men and women of the American Armed Forces and bring them a little bit of home just as the holiday season is kicking into gear.

 

Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line; Summit Racing/BIGFOOT 4x4® Monster Truck competitors Dan Runte and Larry Swim; and Harley-Davidson NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle riders Andrew Hines and Eddie Krawiec will once again make the journey as a group.
